Should I only take MissionShoes with me on the mission?

14th Sep 2021

Our answer might surprise you—we'd say no, and here's why.

We build SUVs, not sports cars. Our shoes are designed to give you maximum comfort while you beat them up. MissionShoes are meant for working hard and can withstand all the mud, rain, and miles of walking you can throw at them. BUT. . . if you want something more professional or stylish, we have a few other recommendations for you.

I like to say 'Two pairs of ours, one pair of theirs'. Leave all the real work that other weaker shoes can't handle to your MissionShoes and rotate them on a daily basis. Then, pick up a more stylish pair of shoes to save for stake conferences, zone meetings, baptisms, and visits with the mission president.

Of course, you'll still want to get something that will last at least two years, so here's our top time-tested picks that still meet the style criteria.

Ecco Lisbon Brogue

Ecco Lisbon Brogue

The Ecco Lisbon Brogue is a solid Ecco shoe that tends to run large. I'm not the biggest fan of Ecco as a company (or the pricetag on their shoes) but it is a solid shoe that won't break down anytime soon. 100% Leather with synthetic sole.

Ecco Holton

Ecco Holton

The Ecco Holton is a similar build to the Lisbon, but the style is different. It's another good bet for a long-lasting pair of shoes that can still hold its own in the style and comfort department.

Dansko Walker

Dansko Walker

The Dansko Walker is probably my favorite shoe on this list, both in price and company, though the sizes available are often limited.

These three are some of the best options you'll find anywhere for durable shoes that can withstand the wear and tear of a mission, and trust me, missionaries on their feet from sunup to sundown won't regret buying shoes that will give them the endurance and comfort they need.

From all of us at MissionShoe, I wish you the very best in your preparation and missionary service!
